What is a traffic light?

Humanity has become so accustomed to various means of signaling and warning in everyday life that traffic lights are something natural and vital. What is a traffic light?


A traffic light is just a device designed to visually notify people of upcoming changes in the movement of land and river transport. The traffic light serves to regulate the movement of cars, trolley buses, buses, trams, river vessels, trains, metro.

For buses, cars, trolley buses, the traffic light is made tricolor (top to bottom): red, yellow and green. Red color prohibits movement, yellow - warns of upcoming changes, and the green signal - allows movement.

In the absence of a special pedestrian traffic light, pedestrians need to be guided by the usual three-color traffic light.
