When to change the fuel filter?
The fuel filter is an important component of the fuel system, which determines the efficiency of the engine and, accordingly, the flow and dynamic performance. Modern fuel, unfortunately, does not always meet the requirements put forward by manufacturing plants, declaring the power and resource indicators of a particular car model. Often, fuel is overwhelmed with all sorts of additives and heavy metals, which causes increased wear of parts not only of the fuel system, but also of the engine itself. In this process, the role of the fuel filter can not be overestimated, because it first takes on poor-quality fuel, making it efficiently cleaned before it enters the engine.
When to change the fuel filter? Timely replacement of the fuel filter helps to ensure the normal functioning of the automobile engine. Usually this procedure is included in the regular maintenance and care of the fuel system. After all, the fuel supply depends on both the engine performance of the car and the duration of its service. As a rule, in the recommendations of the manufacturer of a particular model, it is indicated what time it takes to replace the fuel filter. When using more or less high-quality fuel, it is changed about once every two years or at a specific mileage, its value should be reflected in the technical specifications of the manual model of the car.
But how often to change the fuel filter in practice? For example, if the manufacturer’s recommendation states that the procedure must be performed every 40 thousand kilometers, taking into account the “quality” of fuel and Russian road realities, this should be done no later than every 30 thousand kilometers.
Signs of a Faulty Fuel Filter
It is very important not only to know how much to change the fuel filter, but also to be able to recognize the signs of its pollution. First of all, this is reflected in the start of the engine: there is bad traction. In addition, with a sharp acceleration of the engine may suddenly stall, and at idle, his work will be uneven and accompanied by jerks.
Of course, such signs can be also at pollution of the air filter or nozzles. But this is already a consequence of the fact that the care of the fuel filter is incorrect.
